The school year went by so fast I still can't believe it's officially Summer! To tell the truth, I've been looking forward to the end of this school year for several reasons. One, this marks the end of my third year of teaching which means I am eligible for tenure with my district. In addition to tenure, I can also begin the National Board Certification process a goal I've had since graduate school. Finally, I've needed surgery on my left foot for awhile now and made the decision to have the surgery this Summer.
My surgery was last week and since my ability to walk and move around is very limited. I have been using the down time researching and preparing for the National Board Certification (NBCT). The amount of information and personal blogs of ESOL teachers getting their NBCT was very limited. Due to the lack of material, I decided to start my own blog. I would like The ESL Files to be a safe space where I can journal and share not only my NBCT journey, but also my experiences and reflections as an ESOL teacher and Education Researcher. I am both petrified and excited about my NBCT journey, however I truly believe that this space to journal and share will be a great support tool for me during my process.
If there are any ESL teachers out there who have gone through the NBCT process I would love to know what was your experience like?
